Department of Public Administration

Preparing students for public service leaderships posts, the Department offers a nationally accredited and ranked Master of Public Administration (MPA) program. The MPA degree has over 500 alumni who hold professional positions in federal, state, and local governments, and in the non-profit and private sectors.

The Department offers the only Ph.D. in Public Administration in North Carolina. The doctoral program, which has enrolled students since 1998, prepares students for teaching and research positions. The program has a strong record of placement, with graduates holding faculty appointments in respected colleges and universities and research positions in policy institutes and government agencies.

In addition, the Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management, built around regularly offered graduate courses, provides the basic management knowledge skills needed in nonprofit organizations. The Graduate Certificate in Public Policy allows students to learn fundamental aspects of the policy process, analysis and advocacy. Learn More
