Kat is a sixth year PhD student in the Department of Public Administration at North Carolina State University. Her research and publication interests center on multicultural philanthropy, civic engagement, organization management and capacity building issues. She has published research in the Journal of Career Development, Armed Forces and Society, Public Personnel Management and Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory. Kat owns a consulting firm, designing and delivering creative solutions to support strategic planning, fundraising and evaluation needs of nonprofit and public agencies. She also teaches an Introduction to Nonprofits Course for the Department of Political Science at NCSU. Kat is the recipient of a 2011 Academic Achievement Award from NC State’s Association for the Concerns of African American Graduate Students, and a 2012 recipient of the Diversity Scholar and Leader Award from the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action. Kat maintains membership with two professional associations: Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action and the American Evaluation Association. ​
