No Objections in Mock Trial
As students enter NC State they have many choices to make which include their major of study and future career goals. Nevertheless, some students decide to go above and beyond by also participating in student organizations. The Mock Trial team is a student organization in the Department of Political Science in the School of Public and International Affairs. A major in political science is not required, instead an interest in law school, public speaking or networking opportunities can be reasons to join the team.
Christopher Stock Class of 2018 is the president of the Mock Trial team. Stock became interested in joining the mock trial in order to get more exposure to his major in Political Science, but also to see what a future career in law or politics might provide. This summer Stock will be splitting his time between Washington, DC with the Republican National Convention and between two United States Representatives, Richard Hudson and David Rouzer. He attributes the exposure from the mock trial and his grades to helping him land the internships.
Members of the Mock Trial participate in competitions sponsored by the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA). The NC State Mock Trial team participated in regional competitions that were held at the Durham County Court house earlier in the semester. As Stock looks to help membership of the organization grow in his role as president of the team he encourages other students to find an organization like the Mock Trial team to help them achieve their goals.
