Congratulations to our MPA Alumni Scholarship Award winners!

Thanks to the generosity of the PA Alumni Society scholarship endowment, we were able to offer two scholarships this year to Julia Brenneman and John Griffin. These students are recognized for their excellence in public administration, and we look forward to seeing all that they achieve in their future endeavors.

Julia Brenneman

Julia Brennman is from Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and now lives in Raleigh. She graduated from NC State with undergraduate degrees in Political Science and a minor in nonprofit studies. She is currently a pre-service student and is excited to explore new opportunities through the program.

During her spare time, she can be found either running, trying new recipes or calling her parents. Julia is thankful for the opportunity to receive the Alumni Scholarship and thanks the committee for their generosity. One of her favorite quotes is by Ruth Bader Ginsburg: “Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.”

Josh Griffin

Josh was born and raised on a family farm in Williamston, NC. Now, he lives in Wilson, NC with his wife and two stepchildren. At 31, he received his Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Business Management from North Carolina State University in 2017. Josh is a third-generation public safety professional (e.g., firefighter, rescue technician, etc.) currently working as teaching faculty for the Fire Protection Technology and Emergency Management associate degree program.

During his spare time, Josh enjoys walking around Lake Wilson and “grilling out” with family and friends. John is grateful for the MPA Alumni Association for receiving the Alumni Scholarship and hopes to return the favor someday.
