The Master of Public Administration Department is thrilled to spotlight Iseul Choi, assistant professor in the School of Public Administration and International Affairs. Choi brings a wealth of knowledge with her and she teaches courses such as PA 514 (Management Systems), and PA 770 (Contemporary Public Management).
Choi’s research agenda focuses on important issues regarding how governments can deliver effective and equitable outcomes to citizens and how to make a diverse and inclusive public sector workforce, with a particular focus on performance management. Her work uses a human-centered approach and behavioral insights.
Choi’s journey to her current position is marked by a strong commitment to advancing the study of public administration. She started her education by getting a bachelor’s degree in English and economics from Seoul National University. She then came to the United States to further her education by earning her master’s degree from the La Follettee School of Public Affairs and her Ph.D in Public Administration and Policy from the University of Albany-State University of New York. Before joining NC State, she served as an assistant professor in the School of Public Administration at the University of New Mexico.
Choi has been the recipient of several prestigious awards for her contributions to the field of public administration. These awards include the Dissertation Award from the Section on Personnel Administration and Labor Relations of the American Society for Public Administration in 2021. She also received the Distinguished Doctoral Dissertation award from the university at Albany in 2021.
Choi’s dedication to scholarship, mentorship and teaching makes her a valuable member to our MPA department faculty. We are proud to have her here at NC State.
