MIS Students Explore Washington, D.C.

A group of nine students in the Master of International Studies program visited Washington, D.C. on September 8-9, 2016. Dr. Kathleen Vogel and Dr. William Boettcher, associate professors at NC State, co-organized this exciting opportunity. The students met with representatives from various intelligence agencies to gain a better understanding of the intelligence community. The trip was funded through the Intelligence Community Centers for Academic Excellence (IC-CAE) grant.

 

During the visit, the students met representatives from the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, National Security Council (NSC), National Security Agency (NSA), Department of State’s Intelligence and Research Bureau (INR), and Department of Treasury’s Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence.

 

The IC-CAE works with universities and colleges to develop sustainable national security and intelligence education programs. They provide grants so students have access to opportunities like educational trips, guest speaker visits, and classes about national security and intelligence. The IC-CAE hopes to create a diverse pool of job applicants who have the skills critical to the national security interest of the United States.
