Alumni Updates

  • Jackie Parker(MPA 2017) was hired as the Director of Community Relations at Sageworks in Raleigh, NC.
  • Thomas Lloyd (MPA 2016) recently accepted a position as the City Planner in Southport, NC.
  • Stephanie Caplan (MPA 2016) accepted a position in the City of Raleigh Municipal Government as the Communications Administrator.
  • Anthony Sbarra (MPA 2016) accepted a position as an Institutional Research Analyst in the Office of Institutional Research and Planning at NC State.
  • Alicia Lands Gregory (MPA 2016) accepted the position as Town Administrator for the Town of WIlson’s Mills, NC.
  • Cassaundra Zumbiel (MPA 2016) was hired as the Policy Development Manager for the NC Chamber.
  • Shickeytha Chandler (MPA 2016) was hired as a Management and Program Analyst for the Government Accountability Office in Washington, DC.
  • Robert Grant (MPA 2015) was hired as the Project Coordinator for the Greenwood County Community Indicators Project for the United Way of Greenwood and Abbeville Counties last spring.
  • Tim Holloman (MPA 2006) was hired as the Town Manager of Beech Mountain.
  • Renee Boyette (MPA 1995) was named the Director of Administration and Member Services for the Triangle J Council of Governments.
  • Katherine Willoughby (MPA 1984), a professor of public management and policy at Georgia State University, was presented the 2016 Aaron Wildavsky Award at the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management’s (ABFM) annual conference.

Student Updates

  • Teshanee Williams, a doctoral student in the Department of Public Administration, was selected as an ASPA 2017 Foundation Fellow for the upcoming ASPA Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA on March 17-22. Fellows receive a complimentary 2017 Annual Conference registration, a year-long mentorship with a seasoned practitioner or senior scholar, and lodging in the conference hotel.
  • Vincent Reitano, a doctoral candidate in the Department of Public Administration, accepted a research position with the Government Finance Officers Association.  
  • Clare FitzGerald (PhD, 2016) accepted a position in the Government Outcomes Lab (GO Lab) in the Blavatnik School of Government at the University of Oxford as a Research and Policy Officer. 
  • Dr. Casey Fleming (PhD, 2016), has accepted the position of Assistant Professor of Public Administration (tenure track) at East Carolina University.
  • Mary Clare Hano (PhD, expected 2017) accepted an offer as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at US EPA in RTP.
  • Dr. Annie Izod (PhD Candidate) has accepted a position at the Commission Staff Analyst, Governance and Strategic Planning at the NC Department of Commerce Division of Workforce Solutions
  • Emily McCartha (PhD Candidate) has accepted the position as the Program Evaluation Division with the  North Carolina General Assembly
  • Shannon Rowe (MPA 2018) and Jackie Parker (MPA 2017) competed in the 2017 University of Georgia Annual Public Policy Competition in February.
