Dr. Bruce McDonald Named Co-Editor-in-Chief of NASPAA’s Journal of Public Affairs Education

Dr. Bruce McDonald, associate professor of public budgeting and finance and director of the Masters of Public Administration program at NC State, is the new co-editor-in-chief of NASPAA’s Journal of Public Affairs Education (JPAE)! The Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration (NASPAA) is the accrediting organization of graduate education programs in public policy, public affairs, public administration, and public & nonprofit management. Its nearly 300 members – located across the U.S. and in 14 countries around the globe – award MPA, MPP, MPAff, and similar degrees. NASPAA is the recognized global accreditor of master’s degree programs in these fields.

Dr. McDonald received his BA in journalism from Mercer University, his MA in peace and conflict resolution from American Military University, an MSc in economic history from the London School of Economics, and a PhD in public administration and policy from Florida State University. He has published in journals such as the Journal of Public Administration Research and Theory and Public Administration Review. His qualifications for the editorship of JPAE relate to his experience with the Journal of Public and Nonprofit Affairs. In 2013, as the treasurer of the Midwest Public Affairs Conference, he raised the support to launch the journal. In 2015, he joined it as an associate editor, overseeing daily operations and the production of each issue. In 2012, he served as a special issue editor for Political and Military Sociology.

The Journal of Public Affairs Education (JPAE) is dedicated to advancing teaching and learning in public affairs, which includes the fields of public policy analysis, public administration, and public management. Hosted by the Evans School of Public Affairs of the University of Washington and published by NASPAA, the quarterly journal features peer-reviewed scholarly articles on pedagogical, curricular, and accreditation issues pertaining to public affairs education, commentaries and symposia and book reviews.
