Recent SPIA Grad Goes to Work in D.C. Under Fellowship Award

The Herbert Scoville Jr. Peace Fellowship is a highly-competitive national fellowship program. It provides recent college and graduate school alumni with the opportunity to gain a Washington perspective on key issues of peace and security. Supported by a salary, the fellows serve as full-time junior staff members at the participating organization of their choice. The fellowship runs 6-9 months depending on the fellows availability. 

The School of Public and International Affairs’ very own Jacob Sebastian, has been chosen as a Scoville Fellow. Jacob has chosen to work at the Nuclear Threat Initiative with their International Fuel Cycle Strategies team. He will help develop and complete research projects on the future of the international safeguards regime. 

“I am excited to take full advantage of the networking opportunities provided by the fellowship and by being in D.C. I know that I am called to a career in public service, so I will be looking to continue my work in the nonproliferation field post-graduation by finding a job at another non-profit or within the government.”
